Joint Virtual MLK Jr. Zoom Lock-in and Service Project

January 17 @ 6:30 pm - January 18 @ 11:00 am

The Episcopal Diocese of Maryland Youth and Young Adult Program AND The Sutton Scholars High School Enrichment Program Joint Virtual MLK Jr. Zoom Lock-in and Service Project.
Come join us as we celebrate and honor the life and mission of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This is our first joint Diocese of Maryland Youth Ministry and Sutton Scholars® High School Enrichment Program activity. We are looking forward to getting to know one another while we honor one of the most important figures in our history.
We will gather together virtually by ZOOM at 6:30 PM and start our time together with some fun icebreakers. We’ll also have the opportunity to “share” food with one another! Say WHAAAAT? Share food?!?!? Yes… we’ll share food together. EVERYONE who signs up for the event will receive a snack box in the mail – so we’ll all have the opportunity to “share” our snacks at the same time. Okay… kinda of corny, but it’s the best that we can offer right now!
We’ll also take some time to watch the film, “The Hate U Give.” Plan on having a really good, in-depth and lively discussion afterwards. We will close out our evening with a virtual Pajama Game Party — PRIZES! PRIZES! PRIZES! will be awarded for those who best our virtual game relay!
On Monday, MLK Day, we will regather at 11:00 AM and will work on our service project together. We’ll write letters of cheer to our elderly neighbors and friends who have been alienated during this time of COVID.
Deadline – Must be signed up by January 8, 2021
Program/Activity Schedule:
Sunday, January 17 – Gathering, 6:30 PM – 11:00 PM. We will move into Pajama Party Mode around 9:30 PM and then the games begin. Fun and laughter for all!
Monday, January 18 – Gathering, 11:00 AM – Noon: Work on our service project.
